In 2009 the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB) were pleased to welcome 254 new international students from 44 countries. At the same time UMB has exchange agreements with partners world-wide.

18 percent non-Norwegians
The number of international students makes UMB the most international and multicultural campus in Norway. Non-Norwegians now constitute nearly 18 percent of our student body.

This means that UMB is an excellent place to make new friends and to establish networks that may provide life-long international benefits, regardless of which career you ultimately choose.

– An institution like the Norwegian University of Life Sciences should contribute to the international academic and research community. Participation in international research networks helps us improve our own performance, which has ripple effects, improving the quality of everything we do, says rector Knut Hove.

Non-degree and exchange students can choose from 650 courses of which more than 38 percent are given in English.

The portfolio of programmes to be offered for the 2010/2011 academic year is now finalized, and we are pleased to offer three new study-options for international students. Bioinformatics and Applied Statistics, Microbiology, and International Relations.

– Works both ways
– As a student at UMB, now and in the future, you are and will continue to be of great importance to the University’s networks. Naturally, we intend to provide instruction in many academic subjects, and we look forward to sharing with you Norwegian culture and ways of life. However, it is equally important for us to learn from you, says rector Knut Hove.
