Forskningsinteressene mine omfatter energiomstillinger, energisikkerhet og energirettferdighet i fremvoksende økonomier med stor andel biomasse i energimiksen. Jeg har erfaring med vurdering av «egnede» (og mindre egnede) energiteknologier utviklet for bruk i husholdninger, institusjoner og små- og mellomstore bedrifter i det globale sør: biodrivstoff, forbedrede kokeovner, ren matlagingsenergi, biogass, LPG, multifunksjonelle plattformer. Jeg har også jobbet med nasjonal planlegging i Tanzania av forsynings- og distribusjonssystemer for LPG (for eksempel Pay-as-you-go), strømnett og utenfor strømnett; sektorenes utvikling med hensyn til energisikkerhet. Nylig har jeg jobbet med Cicero på et prosjekt i Tanzania, hvor jeg ser på fortellinger i utviklingsdrevne initiativer for å modernisere energibruk; energibruk og kjønn fra et sosialpraksisteoretisk perspektiv; samt modellering av klimaeffekter ved overgang fra biomassebasert til en «renere» energimiks.
