I am an International Relations scholar who is driven by an interest in the politics of environmental and socio-technical changes in the Anthropocene. My research problematizes how norms and knowledge practices in global governance are constituted in response to an increasing ecological crisis. I have worked on agricultural biotechnology and climate change politics, and am now focusing on the politics and governance of outer space. I joined Noragric, NMBU, in 2016 as an Associate Professor in Global Change and International Relations. My PhD (2014) is from the University of Münster, Germany, where I also obtained a Magister in Political Science, Chinese Studies, and history. I was a post-doctoral research fellow at the Cluster 'Religion and Politics' at the University of Münster and held visiting fellowship positions at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi, India, Tsinghua University, China, and Fridtjof Nansen Institute, Norway.

I am currently leading the project 'Nordic Space Infrastructures -  Environment, Security, and Future Imaginaries of Outer Space in the High North' (NordSpace) funded by the Norwegian Research Council. Together with colleagues in Denmark, Iceland, and Sweden, this project investigates how space infrastructures affect security and environmental politics in the Arctic, and the impacts on local communities in the High North. I am also leading the UArctic network 'Arctic-space sustainability', funded by the University of the Arctic, to connect researchers interested in the impacts of space activities and space infrastructure development for the Northern Circumpolar region. I also lead a collaboration with American University, Washington DC, funded by Hk-dir. In this project, we develop the concept of 'geopolitical ecology’ and integrate it as an interdisciplinary perspective in research and education.
