My main scientific interest is to improve our knowledge about how wildlife species interact with their environment. I am especially interested in how human activities and land use impact natural ecosystems across taxa, biological and spatial scales: from behavioural to community level responses of mammals, birds and insects, from local to landscape levels. My current research projects include bat-bird-insect-habitat relationships in boreal forest and impacts of energy infrastructure on wildlife. I also work to find out how we can secure habitats for pollinating insects on a rapidly changing planet. I have been involved in several applied ecology projects in collaboration with Norwegian management authorities and partners in the private sector. I have chaired the Mammal Committees for the Norwegian Red List for Species 2021 and the Norwegian Alien Species List 2023. I am a member of the Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food and Environment (VKM) where I am part of the CITES expert panel, which is the Norwegian CITES scientific authority. I am appointed by the Norwegian Environment Agency as Norway’s representative in the UNEP/Eurobats Advisory Committee.
