Our main research interest is to delineate interactions between feed, microorganisms, immune system and enteric emissions that exert major influence in efficiency and sustainability of ruminant livestock production. We use balance trials, rumen batch, blood cell culture and recently microbial meta-omics to investigate host-specificity of digestive efficiency, rumen methane formation, microbiome, and immune response, and we develop proxies to predict rumen methane formation. We now seek to expand these approaches to envelop microbial heritability and efficiency.
