My main research interest is understanding how mechanisms at different levels of organisation integrate to influence animal behaviour. My main project is on the link between health and social behaviour with implications for the causality of tail biting in pigs. Through my work on fish pain and poultry cognition I have also become interested in consciousness as an evolutionary adaptation.  I am associate professor at Section of Pharmacology and Toxicology and teach veterinary pharmacology and applied statistics at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Oslo. I also give lectures on fish pain. My focus within veterinary pharmacology is on analgesic treatment in different species. I am a member of the Animal Welfare Research Group. A list of my publications can be found on researchgate https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Janicke_Nordgreen or through the link at the bottom of this page.
