My main research interest is understanding how mechanisms at different levels of organisation integrate to influence animal behaviour. I study the link between health and social behaviour with implications for the causality of tail biting in pigs. Through my work on fish pain and poultry cognition I have also become interested in consciousness as an evolutionary adaptation.  I am associate professor in Veterinary Pharmacology and teach veterinary pharmacology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. I also contribute to teaching animal welfare. My focus within veterinary pharmacology is on analgesic treatment in different species. A list of my publications can be found on researchgate https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Janicke_Nordgreen or through the link at the bottom of this page.
