Alicia Maria Berrios

I am a Ph.D. candidate in Economics, specializing in non-market environmental valuation, with a particular focus on marine ecosystems.

My interdisciplinary background spans marine biology, aquaculture, finance, and economics, allowing me to integrate ecological and economic perspectives when examining environmental externalities, resource use, and policy implications.

My research focuses on the Norwegian salmon farming industry and marine conservation in Costa Rica, particularly shark species. I use stated preference methods, including discrete choice experiments and contingent valuation, to investigate the economic valuation of environmental goods and ecosystem services.

My goal is to contribute economic insights that support informed decision-making in environmental policy, industry, and natural resource management.
