I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Economics specializing in environmental resource and ecosystem service valuation, with a particular focus on marine resources. My background in marine biology and aquaculture allows me to integrate ecological knowledge with economic analysis, providing a perspective that encompasses both the natural science and economic dimensions of environmental conservation. This interdisciplinary approach enables me to examine the tensions between economic development and the need to preserve marine and coastal ecosystems. My doctoral research investigates the impacts of the salmon farming industry in Norway using non-market valuation methods. I am also involved in research on the conservation of marine resources in Costa Rica - primarily focused on shark species - where I evaluate willingness to pay for improved tourism infrastructure relative to conservation outcomes through stated preference approaches such as discrete choice experiments and contingent valuation.
