Insekter og nedbrytning av død ved i ulike klima / Global Decomposition Study

The project studies the role of insects and microbes in decomposition of dead wood, in a global climate gradient.

Our research group is part of a network of more than 35 research groups who have installed more than 50 sites worldwide, in order to study the role of insects and microbes relative to global climate gradients. Dead wood is exposed unprotected and in cages that exclude insects to study their role in the decomposition process. The sites are distributed along a temperature gradient from the boreal zone to the tropics and a precipitation gradient from subdesert to rainforest.
