IBD in pregnancy and environmental factors

The aim is to study environmental factors and pregnancy outcomes among women With inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis).

It is known that women with inflammatory bowel disease have high risk for adverse pregancy outcomes than women withour the disease.


The aim in the project is to investigate 2 main research questions.

1) The impact of maternal IBD on preterm birth.

2) The impact of specific environmental factors; air-pollution such as NO2 and particular matter (PM), water content, dietary factors such as fiber, added sugar, vitamin D, long chain n-3 fatty acids and probiotic milk on preterm birth in maternal IBD
