My research focuses on understanding how genomes evolve and drive adaptation across different timescales. I’m particularly interested in uncovering the genomic foundations of evolutionary and ecological processes by comparing whole-genome sequencing data from diverse populations and species.

A key theme in my work is exploring how genome architecture and organization influence gene regulation, shape phenotypic traits, and contribute to speciation. Over the years, I’ve studied a wide range of organisms, including fishes and birds.

More recently, my attention has turned to the Mucoromycota fungi—a fascinating yet understudied group. These fungi display extraordinary diversity, and I’m especially intrigued by their genomic evolution as well as biotech potential.
