    Why Norway?

Norway is a liberal, inclusive country that celebrates diversity and values equality, human rights, and social welfare, ensuring that all individuals, regardless of background, gender, or identity, are treated with respect and dignity. Synonymous with a high standard of living, residents enjoy high levels of education, good health care, low crime, and a strong economy. Most Norwegians speak English, so it is easy to get around.

    • Norwegians love outdoor activities, hiking in the mountains or by the fjords, skiing and watching the northern lights during the winter. If you're lucky you may even see the Northern lights on campus!

You can work part-time during your studies and qualify for a job-seeking visa after graduation. Continuous bachelor studies and completion of 180 credits in Norway, gives you access to an exemption from tuition fees for a master's degree, with the possibility of government funding.

Norway's life science hub located right outside Oslo

Just 17 minutes by train from vibrant Oslo, NMBU's campus lies in the city of Ås (Aas). Nationally renowned for its beauty, NMBU's campus is set within one of Norway's largest and most complete neoclassical park facilities. Ås is also home to the leading national research cluster for biosciences.

    • At NMBU we offer a welcoming academic environment where students easily transition from learners to active participants. Small class sizes and a relaxed atmosphere, allow students to engage directly with professors, fostering an open and approachable dynamic. There's a strong emphasis on independent work, with professors providing supportive guidance, both academically and personally. This approach promotes meaningful interactions, practical learning, and a well-rounded academic experience.

Reflecting Norway's commitment to sustainability, Ås is a compact city where you can walk or bike everywhere. Student housing is available and located just a short distance from the campus.
