Funding of Combined Master's and PhD Courses

NOVA does not have a special grant scheme or a separate call for combined courses. However, course organisers are welcome to arrange courses to which both master's and PhD students are admitted. Applications for combined courses must be submitted during the NOVA Open Call.

The entry requirements, learning outcomes and examination methods must be treated separately for the two student groups. A combined course is not a course where PhD students are accepted to a master's course or vice versa. The master's course must be registered as a regular master's course at the university running it.

The applications must follow the master's course exceeding €5,000 and PhD course application schemes. Applicants must submit one application for the master's course and one application for the PhD course.

NB! It is only possible to apply for funding of one course even though one application must be filled in for the PhD course and one for the master's course.

For applications for combined PhD and master’s courses submitted after 1 Jan. 2018, there should be flexibility regarding the minimum number of NOVA students, but there must be at least 10 qualified and registered NOVA and BOVA students in total.
