According to the Learning Environment Committee (LMU) statutes, LMU has the operational responsibility for the quality assurance of the students' learning environment, and is delegated responsibility from the University Board to make decisions in matters related to the learning environment. The Learning Environment Committee participates in the planning of measures relating to the learning environment, and follow up issues concerning the students' safety and welfare.
It is the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority which supervises that the institution follow up their responsibility for the students' learning environment. It is NOKUT, Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education, which approves the universities' quality assurance system.
