Technological Educational Institute of Ionian Islands

  • Den greske øya Zakynthos.

Apart from the mainland, Greece consists of about 1.400 islands divided into different island groups. NMBU's partner university (the Technological Educational Institute of Ionian Islands) is located on the island Zakynthos, one of the Ionian islands in the Ionian Sea. Approximately 32.000 people live on the island, making it the thenth largest in Greece. Partly due to increased agricultural activity and tourism, the island suffers from poor groundwater quality. Science Park Zakynthos is a Norwegian-Greek cooperation between NMBU (IMT) and the Technological Institute of Ionian Islands whose purpose is to facilitate research, education and dissemination of knowledge about the island's groundwater conditions.

The Technological Educational Institute of Ionian Islands has faculties on three of the islands in the Ionic Sea. NMBU has an agreement with the Department of Environmental Technology and Ecology.
