SiU-project support for student mobility

If you would like to have a short or long-term stay in Ukraine or Norway for research or study purposes, you can receive some support from our Joint Ukrainian-Norwegian education programme in Environmental Radioactivity

SiU support for students

Short-term student mobility to Norway from Ukraine and from Norway to Ukraine, for a period of less than 4 weeks:

  • The SiU project cover expenses related to short‐term student mobility, defined as mobility for less than 4 weeks, in full (for example intensive courses, field courses, workshops, research stays and internships)
  • For Norwegian students (MSc and PhD students), the project should only include costs that are not covered by the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund (Lånekassen), i.e. travel and accommodation but not daily allowance (living is relatively cheap in Ukraine for Norwegians)

Students at Norwegian institutions studying abroad for a period exceeding 4 weeks:

  • The primary source of funding for Norwegian students should be The Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund (Lånekassen).
  • SIU may cover expenses not covered by the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund (Lånekassen), such as mobility of PhD students related to the project cooperation. SIU may cover expenses up to the applicable monthly rate set by the Norwegian Research Council («Overseas Research Grants») for individuals. In 2016/17, the monthly rate is NOK 16 000. Additional grants for dependents are not given
  • Scholarship grants for Norwegian Bachelor and Master students going abroad is limited to NOK 5,000/month
  • Travel support will be granted in addition to the scholarship

Students coming to Norway from Ukraine for a period exceeding 4 weeks:

  • Students (MSc) staying in Norway for more than 4 weeks can obtain a monthly scholarship up to the applicable rate for monthly living expenses as determined by the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund (Lånekassen). The rate for 2015/16 is NOK 10 092,- per month (10 months per year)
  • PhD students staying in Norway for more than 4 weeks may be granted a monthly scholarship up to the applicable rate for monthly living expenses as determined by the Norwegian Research Council. The rate for 2015/16 is NOK 15 000 per month. Dependants are not covered under this call
  • Travel support may be granted in addition to the scholarship
