NMBU has a long tradition for research and education within natural resource management and forestry. This was the starting point for the interdisciplinary research group in renewable energy. 

Background

Climate changes challenges and opportunities to realize sustainable energy solutions for the future are attractive areas for new students. The Renewable Energy Group at the Faculty of environmental science and natural resource management (MINA) offers Bachelor's, Master's and PhD studies in Renewable Energy. The long tradition in research and education within natural resource management was a starting point for the development of a interdisciplinary programme the Renewable Energy bachelor programme in 2008 and a master programme in 2010. The the first PhD graduated in 2014. The programs have been developed in close collaboration with stakeholders in the energy sector to secure timely, relevant and high-quality programmes that are among the most popular studies at NMBU. Our students have got relevant and interesting jobs in the renewable energy sector and open doors for new candidates in the years to come.

The renewable energy group at has since the start in 2008 established an active research group with a high number of PhD students and many interesting research projects with domestic and international partners. Several master's students are linked to ongoing projects for joint benefits.
