Norwegian Research Council - DAAD - Norway-Germany research collaboration project
Project No: 309220Period covered - start date: 2020
Period covered - end date: 2021
NMBU Administrator: Volha Shapaval
Project's coordinators: NMBU / University of Munster
COFUN is a mobility network-building project between NMBU and University of Munster. The project will be connected to the projects LIGNOLIPP (From lignocellulose sugars to high-value lipids and biopolymers in a single fermentation process) and Bio4Fuels (A Centre for Environment-friendly Energy Research) funded by Norwegian Research Council.
The project aims at combining the expertise of Norwegian and German academic and industrial partners in the field of fungal lipids and chitin/chitosan for utilizing the unique potential of oleaginous Zygomycetes fungi in order to develop a single fermentation process for co-production of high-value lipids and chitin/chitosan biopolymers for agricultural applications as animal feed additive and plant biostimulant from sugar-rich lignocellulose hydrolysates originating from forestry waste streams.
