Landscaping is outdoor planning and design. The course builds on the tradition of garden art that is thousands of years old. Competence is composed of shape knowledge and aesthetics, plant knowledge, materials and construction knowledge, knowledge of ecology and society.

Landscape Architects working with the engineering often do it in private offices, and draw by hand or with computer programs. The work is usually out to tender for the execution of a contractor or gardener. Many landscape architects also work in government agencies such as building projects and park management or a more general level, cultural and heritage sites, urban development and management of recreation areas and surrounding natural areas.

In ILP, one can choose a 5-year program that has three specializations: landscaping, landscape planning and landscape management or a 3-year training to landscape engineer.
