The purpose of the National Centre for Urban Agriculture (NCUA) is to promote research and education on the social, environmental, economic and ecological dimentions of urban agriculture and sustainable circular economy. It is located at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) and will benefit the university community as well as research institutions in our proximity and a diverse array of actors and companies in the Oslo/Viken area, in Norway and internationally.

About the centre

The expansion of urban agriculture and alternative food systems is a worldwide phenomenon that has caught the attention of policy makers, activists and funders as a new response to issues of food security, economic development, poverty alleviation, urban blight, waste recycling and environmental preservation. To cover the full academic range, several academic groups at NMBU has come toghether to form the National Centre for Urban Agriculture.
