Circulation policies

Library card
All library users must have a student card or library card. Upon registration, valid identification must be presented (driver’s licence, passport, student ID). Users are personally responsible for their cards, and loss or theft must be reported immediately to the library. Library users are also required to notify the library in case of address changes.

Loan periods
In general: 4 weeks
Journals: 1 week
Certain materials may not be available for loan, or have other loan periods.

Borrowing
Make sure to charge out all items to be borrowed at the library’s Circulation Desk.

Please respect the due dates. Loans can usually be renewed. However, books recalled for other users must be returned promptly.

Borrowed materials must not be lent to others, and must not be taken abroad.

Interlending
Materials not to be found at NMBU, can be interlended or copied from other libraries. For interlending materials, the circulation policy of the lending library applies.

Liability for compensation
The borrower is responsible for damage to or loss of materials. Please note that personal notes and underlining is also regarded as damage.

Loss or destruction of materials carries liability for compensation. A claim for compensation of NOK 750 per document is issued after the third recall notice. The amount includes an administration fee of NOK 250, which has to be paid even if the document is returned.

Fees
The library can charge fees for certain services, e.g. for taking copies or interlending from other libraries. Please refer to our price list.

VIOLATION OF THE RULES MAY RESULT IN THE LOSS OF YOUR BORROWING PRIVILEGES
