Course contents:
Road construction in general and special focus will be given to pavement design, pavement construction methods and technology. The following will be discussed: - Design methods: Pavement structure as a whole and pavement surfacing in particular. - Methods of road reinforcement - Functionality of road and road pavements. - Frost and Road Construction: mechanism and remedy to frost damage
Learning outcome:
The student shall obtain in depth understanding of design of road structures such as design of flexible pavements, rigid pavements, and foundation improvements. Both Norwegian and other international practices will be discussed. The student shall also achieve adequate knowledge of design of pavements which enables him/her to carry out a project study on the subject matter.
