It there are not enough slots in group one the students will be ranked by their ECTS credits.
The course addresses methods and technologies for water resources engineering and water, stormwater and sewage networks. Environmental consequences of river regulation, river improvement measures, hydrological models, river hydraulics, flood analysis and flood routing and use of mathematical models in planning and management. Planning and analysis of water distribution networks and stormwater and sewage systems, technology for storm water management and culvert dimensioning. Management, operation and maintanance of water, stormwater and sewage systems. During the course the students use computer based planning and analysis tools for water distribution networks and sewage systems, including hydraulic models. The term papers are intended to give students the opportunity to study in-depth one or more of the above mentioned topics.
Upon completion, the students should be able to use planning methods and computer tools for modelling, analysis, planning and management of technical installations in rivers and water and wastewater networks.

Supervision of the term papers are given during designated supervisory sessions in the computer lab.

Knowledge of water and sanitary engineering equivalent to the course THT261 Water Supply and Waste Water Systems. It is also preferred that the student have knowledge of hydrology equivalent to VANN200 Hydrology.
Written term papers and oral presentation of these. Being present at the seminar for the presentations of term papers.
Written exam, 3,5 hour.
For a course of 15 credits, ca. 450 hours of work in total is normally to be expected.

Lectures: app. 50 hours. Problem solving sessions: app. 30 hours. 1-day excursion to NVE.
The external and internal examiner jointly prepare the exam questions and the correction manual. The external examiner reviews the internal examiner's examination results by correcting a random sample of candidates exams as a calibration according to the Department's guidelines for examination markings.
