The course addresses methods and technologies for water resources engineering and water, stormwater and sewage networks. Environmental consequences of river regulation, river improvement measures, hydrological models, river hydraulics, flood analysis and flood routing and use of mathematical models in planning and exploitation. Planning, analysis and engineering of water distribution networks and stormwater and sewage systems, technology for storm water management and culvert dimensioning . Management, operation and maintanance of water, stormwater and sewage systems. During the course the students use computer based engineering, planning and analysis tools for water distribution networks and sewage systems (CAD and hydraulic models). The semester assignments is intended to give students the opportunity to study in depth one or more of the above mentioned topics.
Upon completion, the students should be able to use planning methods and computer tools for modelling, analysis, planning, engineering and management of technical installations in rivers and water and wastewater networks.
1) Lectures. 2) Semester assignment. The work is to be presented in plenary. 3) Visit at the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate NVE.
The students get personal supervision for the assignment. In addition, the students can communicate with the professors by e-mail.
