Course contents:
Topics: Planning, implementing and assessing science and mathematics teaching and learning based on principles for-, and theories of, teaching and learning. Phenomena based teaching. Inquiry-based learning. Cooperative learning. Informal and formal assessments. Science education applied to professions.
Learning outcome:
The students shall be able to support and justify teaching and learning in science/mathematics education with the help of educational principles, theories, as well as personal experiences. Learning activities:
The course is based on practice and student collaboration combined with reflections on practice and theory. The course is web-based.
Teaching support:
The students will be supervised during the compulsory activities. Student groups for guidance are established.
Syllabus:
An overview of course literature is distributed upon course start.
Prerequisites:
The course is for teacher students who have competence in programe subjects in science (life sciences, biology, physics, geology and/or chemistry) and mathematics.

Mandatory activity:
Safety course (except for those with mathematics education only).
Assessment:
Science/Mathematics Education assignment.

450 hours
Entrance requirements:
Only for students attending Practical-Pedagogical Education (PPU), full-time and part-time, in cooperation with other universities or university colleges. 
Type of course:
The course consists of 3 gatherings over the semester.
Examiner:
An external examiner approves the examination questions and assesses the evaluation of the assignment.
