Course contents:
The course will focus on what we know about food components and their relation to health. Furthermore, the impact of diet composition, eating habits etc. in relation to health. The course will give an overview over the impact of diet in different phases of life, and in relation to the most serious public health challenges. Current issues, such as diet supplements and popular diets will be included if the time allows it.
Learning outcome:
Students will be updated on current knowledge about the relationship between diet and reduced or increased risk for health problems or disease.

Prerequisites:
Knowledge of nutrition equivalent to HFE100.
Recommended prerequisites:
Mandatory activity:
The first day lecture is mandatory. Active participation in seminars. Both the group presentation and the written exam must be approved.
Assessment:
Group assignment with presentation in plenary. Each presentation shall last for maximum 30 minutes with time for questions afterwards, counts 1/3 (internal sensor). Written examination (3.0 hrs), counts 2/3. The written examination has to be graded E or better by external sensor. Both the group presentation and the written exam are parts of the final mark.
Nominal workload:
Lectures: 24 hours. Supervised discussion groups: 24 hours. Preparation, self-study and group work: 102 hours.
