Course contents:
The course is structured around lectures, seminars and a few excursions. In total 4 hours a week during the spring semester. In addition to the scheduled time, students are expected to prepare literature seminar, deliver exercises and write a group assignment.
Learning outcome:
The student should have an understanding of how humans affect and are affected by our physical environment (both natural and urban landscape). The student is expected to have knowledge about research, theories and concepts about the interaction between people and physical environment. The student should have knowledge of what factors in the physical environment that hinder or promote public health. Furthermore, the student should have an understanding of human behavior and knowledge of various methods such as observation, participation, established knowledge, etc. methods that can be used to map human activity. The applicability of the theories are of importance. The student will for example be able to analyze and evaluate the design of a place on the basis of a theoretical framework and a specific user group.
Learning activities:
Students will through lectures, literature seminars, exercises and field trips be introduced to the various themes and methods. The students can through their own literature search obtain deeper knowledge on a particular theme. Theoretical knowledge and reflection will be practiced in a written group assignment.

The students must have completed 2 years at Bachelor level.
Recommended prerequisites:
Mandatory activity:
2 literature seminars and 1 exercise.
Written individual assignment and oral presentation.
Nominal workload:
Preliminar numbers: 30 h lectures, 5 h exercises, 10 h seminars, 10 h excursions.
Entrance requirements:
Minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway (generell studiekompetanse).

An external sensor will read and evaluate the group assignments.
