Course contents:
Module E ( 5 credits) The course comprise 4-5 weeks teaching starting in September/ October, with a final written exam in October/ November. Lectures will be given on the topics digestion and intermediate metabolism of the main nutriens in monogastrics pigs, poultry and fish, ruminants and horse. Evaluation of energy and nutritional values in feeds.
Learning outcome:
Knowledge of the importance and functions of different nutrients in the animal body. Basic knowledge of assessing energy and protein value of feeds and the needs for energy and protein in different animals . Basic knowledge of the resourse base in different animal production systems.

Selected chapters of the book «Fôringslære» (2007) by Torger Gjefsen (The book "Animal Nutrition" by McDonald et.al. 2011 (7th edition) will be curriculum later in the bachelor program, and can used as supplemental litterature).
