The health part consitutes 50% of the course and the business part is also 50%.

Horses and human health and hosrse assisted work for youth development includes pedagogic and health (physical and mental) promoting activities by use of the horse. The role of the horse in the society in business and as a helath promoting agent is emphasised in the course.

The course will give the student an overview over the hors industry in Norway, what companies and organisations we are talking about and the importance of political work. The horse industry also needs to get informed about the competence of our students and we need to establish contacts for future job opportunities. The course is mainly based on input from external lecturers, but also includes field trips and a final task of making a report or a website. This report or website should include economics, establishment of a company, horse as a health promoting agent with focus on the health part or the business part, or the report can also be a literature review.  During the course, the students will be presented to important horse assisted health establishments and the horse industry.

Minimum number of students for the course to be held is 8.

Learning outcome:
Students will be able to provide an analysis of the operational system and economy in a horse company. They will also be able to advise on the daily operations and longer-term planning. They will gain an insight into ways to use the horse on the healing action - theory and practice.

Lectures based on external lecturers. Personal efforts and individual supervision during the project work. Excursions.
