Course contents:
The course is mainly based an experimantal feed processing trial at the Center for Feed Technology. A report from the experiment must be handed in, and presented for the class. The reports will be graded. Each student will also hand in an individual report, based on literature study. Topics that will be covered may include: - Grinding - Weighing and mixing - Conditioning and expanding - Pelleting - Extrusion - Cooling/drying
Learning outcome:
The purpose of this course is to gain in-depth knowledge of how and why different key processes and equipments are installed and used in feed production plants. The objective is that the students will be able to understand the principles used for key processes and to optimise these processes through discussions with factory personnel and scientists.
Learning activities:
Each group will plan and perform a feed processing trial. Each student will take part in at least one group assignment, and write one individual report. In addition there will be lectures and student presentations.

Prerequisites:
The students must have taken HFE305.
Recommended prerequisites:
Mandatory activity:
Participation in minimum 70% of the time for feed production. 2 of the weekly tasks are to be handed in.
Assessment:
1 group assignment and one individual assignment per student. Graded group and individual report, counting 40/ 60 % of the final grade. Both parts of the exam must be handed in.
Nominal workload:
150 hours.
