Modelling of geographical information. Spatial data structures. Geographical database systems. Standards for modelling, storing and transferring geographical information. Database solutions for GIS. Distributes systems. Implementation of geographical information services.
After completing the course, the student should be capable of building models for geographical information, evaluating different solutions for geographical database handling and implementing storage and services for geographical information in centralised and distributed systems.
Lectures, independent study, practice exercises, assignment, presentation of article.
Teaching support will be given primarily in connection with that part of the structured teaching that is set aside for exercise guidance. It will also be possible to communicate directly with the course teacher by appointment during office hours. Canvas.

Lectures: 42 hours (3 hours per week). Work on exercises/projects (predominately undertaken by the student): 70 hours (5 hours per week).
The external and internal examiner jointly prepare the exam questions and the correction manual. The external examiner reviews the internal examiner's examination results by correcting a random sample of candidate¿s exams as a calibration according to the Department's guidelines for examination markings.
