Course contents:

Innovation policy, innovation systems, and context.

Entrepreneurship and small business development: concept, theory, definition.

Regional innovation policy (excursion with preparations and reporting).

Guest lectures (Norwegian innovation and entreprenurship policy)

Cases.

Student presentations.

Learning outcome:
Through the study of theory, literature and assignments, insight is given into current problems connected with economic development and entrepreneurship. The students should: - Become familiar with theoretical justifications for and the main characterristics of Norwegian national and regional development policy - Be able to use theories in the analysis of practical problems - Become familiar with scientific journals and current research within the field.

1. David J. Storey and Francis J. Greene: Small Business and Entrepreneurship, 1st ed. 550 pages.  2. Additional litterature: Selected articles. Information about additional litterature will be posted on Fronter.
Prerequisites:
Bachelordegree or equivalent.
Recommended prerequisites:
BUS210, AOS120
Mandatory activity:
Compulsory one-day excursion and preparations. Start-up camp (Grundercamp), Student presentations.
Assessment:
Partial exam (project assignment), 40 % of final grade. Final written exam.
Nominal workload:
300 hours.

Type of course:
In total ca 50 hours in class with lectures, guestl lectures, cases, studentpresentations and discussions. Excursion: 1 day. Assignments for submission: 3 sets.
