In this course we will focus on how management information can be implemented and used to increase the efficiency of organizations. During the course we will discuss the various types of MIS. We place particular emphasis on main parts consisting of: people, technology, data and information (decision support). The course covers the different phases and activities in the implementation process from idea to the system is used as intended. Furthermore, we will present theories for the improvement of business processes, where we focus on the potential implementation a MIS allows for the design of new and improved processes. An essential element of this course is to give the participants a practical experience in planning the implementation of a management information system.
Learning outcome:
The purpose of this course is to increase understanding of how information systems for business management (Management Information Systems - MIS) may contribute to the efficiency of business and management processes. The implementation of an MIS can be the most important issue facing leaders met with respect to increasing organizational effectiveness. Some systems provide significant benefits while others are regarded as total failures. Hence the need to increase understanding of the opportunities and threats in the implementation and use of such complex systems.
Learning activities:
The first two weeks will be teaching from 9 to ca. 14 each day. In this period there will be alternating plenary lessons, exercises and practice review.
Teaching support:
All exercises are based on group and after each event there will be a review in plenary. During the joint review will be 1 to 3 groups will be chosen to present their solutions.

A writing group based course report (50%) as the group also will present an oral (10%), and a final individual multiple-choice exam (40%)
