Priority for Plant Science bachelor in case of many students
Lectures.Practicals in greenhouse and lab. Hand in of report.
Genetic improvements account for about one half of the growth in plant production during the 20th century. With the new tools of genome sequencing and gene expression we have a much more finetuned knowledge than before. Itis therefore essential to know how both older and new tools may be used to improve quality, quantity, adaptation to climate, dieseases or improve nutrient use efficiency. This will be illustrated through lectrues and practicals.
Through exposure to unfamiliar genetic variation in plants the student will need to explain it, describe it in writing and becomee familiar with the terms used.

BIO120, Introductory Genetics or similar level
Racticals are mandatory, and the report will be graded
Lab report and written exam count 50% each in the final grade
