Course contents:
Thorough introduction to quantitative genetics: kinship and inbreeding, genetic parameters, breeding values, selection, breeding methods and inbreeding in populations.
Learning outcome:
The students must be able to understand and use basic BLUP for breeding value estimation, by the use of observations of various kinds of relatives, including the utilisation of DNA-markers by Genomic Selection, GS. They should also be able to analyse the effect of different approaches to breeding (in pure- and cross-breeding) and possess sufficient knowledge to continue studies in the subject area.

Engelsk:Statistics (equivalent to STAT100). Genetics (equivalent to BIO120).
