Course contents:
Thorough introduction to quantitative genetics: kinship and inbreeding, genetic parameters, breeding values, selection, breeding methods and inbreeding in populations.
Learning outcome:
The students must be able to understand and use basic BLUP for breeding value estimation, by the use of observations of various kinds of relatives. They should also be able to analyse the effect of different approaches to breeding (in pure- and cross-breeding) and possess sufficient knowledge to continue studies in the subject area.

Engelsk:Statistics (equivalent to STAT100). Genetics (equivalent to BIO120).

All exercises, in the relevant semester, must be passed.

2 written examinations, 3 hrs each.
