Course contents:

General and case-related lectures on local planning are followed up with seminars and teamwork assignments (formal Municipal Plan documents).


Learning outcome:
The course aims at providing the students with knowlegde and appreciation of local planning efforts and relevant planning tools. The students perform planning studio work on formal plan proposals, based on LAA250 inventories and analyses.
Learning activities:
Lectures, literature studies, assignments in groups and individually, excursions. ICT is required for carrying out the assignments, especially Adobe programs and GIS.
Teaching support:
Supervision and demonstrations will be given, as well as feed back during seminars and presentations. Teachers will offer up to a total of 80-90 hours of supervision for the assignments.
Syllabus:
Various articles, book chapters, public documents, and notes from lectures. - Per Stahlschmidt and Vibeke Nellemann (2009) Metoder til landskabsanalyse : kortlægning af stedets karakter og potentiale. Extended reference list will be presented at the cours introduction.
Prerequisites:
APL 102; LAD102, LAA250. Planning studio work assigment is a continuation of the assignment in LAA250.
Recommended prerequisites:
Theoretical perspectives on place and community, knowledge of driving forces, analysis methods for place/landscape, strategic visioning, scenario methods and feasibility studies.
Mandatory activity:
Excursions, exercises, group assignments (more information will be given at the course introdution), seminars and plenary presentations.
Assessment:
Comprehensive evaluation. Obligatory assignments that are submittet and approved. 10% written assignments 40% definition of planning issues 50% elaboration of plan proposal
Nominal workload:
450 hours seminars and assigments.
Entrance requirements:
Minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway (generell studiekompetanse)
Reduction of credits:
5 ECTS with APL201
Type of course:
Seminars, assignments, planning studio work with tutoring.
Note:
Engelsk: The main part of the work is carried out in groups of 3-5 students.
Examiner:
An external sensor will evaluate the group assignment. The written assignment is subject to internal evaluation.
