None in particular, but it would be an advantage to have taken an introduction to organizational theory (AOS130) and organizational psychology (AOS230).
Course contents:
The tasks of managers at different levels. Theories and framework for leadership and Human Resource Management (HRM). Key leadership challenges and how they are handled.
Learning outcome:
This course gives an introduction to leadership of modern knowledge organizations. The course will give the participants a solid theoretical foundation and help build critical and analytical skills. Another central goal is to improve the participants¿ skills in handling practical challenges as well as developing an awareness with regards to the demands of leadership roles and the importance of leadership more generally. The main focus will be on knowledge and skills that one can develop as a student, but that will gradually increase and mature as one proceeds through one¿s career. The course will also be relevant for those who seek a role where they will be supporting leaders (e.g., HR advisors, consultants, etc.) or would like to contribute to organizational and leadership development processes.
Learning activities:
Student active learning methods will be used throughout the course (cases, simulations, role-plays, etc.) in addition to a weekly lecture.

Continuous guidance of group work. Feedback on the assignments.

Compendium (collection of articles and book chapters).
Prerequisites:
Introduction to Organisation Theory (AOS130). The Psycology of Organisation and Leadership (AOS230). Strategic Management and Organisation Design (AOS232 or AOS237). Research Methods in the Social Sciences (AOS240).

Mandatory activity:
Regular work groups will be established and the majority of activities will be performed in these groups. Participation is necessary for this course.There may be other supplementary activities such as peer evaluation, but the results will not count in the final grade.
Assessment:
- Various brief group assignments throughout the course that count 30% (each groups hands in one assignment)
- An individual assignment that will count 30%
- The final individual written exam will count 40% and have a duration of 3 hours.
Nominal workload:
According to NMBU's norms. Ten credits = 300 hours.
