I am a PhD Candidate at the Department of Biosciences. With an academic background in animal breeding and aquaculture, I have studied the contribution of bioinformatic methods into further uncovering and understanding the Atlantic salmon genome. For my PhD project I will be employing such methods to delve deeper into the life history of domesticated Atlantic salmon, studying the evolutionary and functional impacts of structural variation.

Given the significance and active role of structural variation, I seek to understand how these genetic elements have contributed to adaptive evolution for Atlantic Salmon as well as how they are linked with expression of traits important in modern aquaculture.
