My research activities are in the interphase between plant genetics and plant breeding With special interest in QTL mapping, resistance breeding and the molecular genetics of hostpathogen interactions. I am currently leading research projects on powdery mildew in wheat, leaf blotch diseases in wheat and barley, Fusarium head blight in wheat and oats, pre-harvest sprouting resistance in wheat and waterlogging tolerance in wheat and barley. Much of this is collaborative work with the plant breeding company Graminor. I am also involved in validation of Molecular markers for wheat, barley and oat breeding, and the implementation of marker-assisted selection in Norwegian wheat breeding has come as a direct result of these research projects.
