I am a plant ecologist focusing on climate change effects on alpine and Arctic plant communities. In particular I am interested in the driving forces and processes behind changes in species diversity and composition, such as the role of biotic interactions, recruitment, community invasability, and interactions across trophic levels, and how these may change with changes in the environment. I use several approaches, such as resampling of historical data, experimental warming by opent top chambers (OTCs), transplanting plant communities to warmer and wetter climates, and removal experiments to examine plant community responses to climate change. I am the co-chair of the researcher network the International tundra experiment (ITEX)
