Professor Dr. Ing. Thomas K. Thiis is an international expert on climatic load and climate adaptation of buildings. His core qualifications are in Engineering, Building Physics and Climate. He is the convener of the ISO snow load standardisation committee and member of the CEN team responsible for the EUROCODE on snow loads.  His scientific research interests lie at the microscale climate and climatic loads and how these affect the building physics. He has contributed to projects involving air tightness, ventilation and particulate matter and he is an expert in numerical simulations of heat and mass, in wind tunnels and full-scale field physical measurements. His project portfolio ranges from determining degradation of wooden facades to developing the model for snow load on roofs, which is currently used in the international snow load standard. He is an experienced Project Leader and has been invited as visiting Professor to Chiba University, Japan and guest professor at the University of Coimbra, Portugal.
