I am a researcher at the Centre for Integrated Genetics (CIGENE) at NMBU investigating genomics of production species (salmon, pig, and cow). My work primarily involves studying gene regulation and host-pathogen interactions using genome-wide omics based approaches including SNP based genotyping, RNAseq, ATACseq, and RRBS. We are also developing cutting edge CRISPR based screening approaches to systematically target every gene in the genome and test whether these genes have an effect on a particular phenotype such as susceptibility to important pathogens. My ultimate goal is to leverage functional understanding of genomic processes (i.e. gene regulation and host-pathogen interactions) to develop gene editing strategies designed to improve animal welfare, production traits, and sustainability in the future.
