Call for papers: Conference on Global Tax Equity

Together with The World Bank Group, Institute for Fiscal Studies, UKaid, and ODI, Skatteforsk organises the fourth World Bank tax conference. The conference will be held online and in person in Washington DC, at September 22-23, 2022. Deadline for submission is by July 10, 2022.

The topic of the conference is Global Tax Equity.

The topics that will be discussed are:

  • Taxation of high-net-worth individuals, including wealth taxation.
  • Tax transparency, beneficial ownership, offshoring and tax havens.
  • Taxes on multinationals and large corporations, including BEPS pillar I and II.
  • Distributional properties of environmental taxation.
  • New forms of measurement (offshore wealth data, profit shifting, environmental tax incidence). 

The keynote address will be held by Professor Gabriel Zucman (University of California at Berkley), also affiliated Skatteforsk researcher. The conference will also feature research presentations, academic discussions, and sessions in which policy makers will present policy proposals and receive feedback from academics. 

Submission: Researchers (at academic and policy institutions) are invited to submit a paper (preferable) or an extended abstract of two or more pages to mbreece@worldbank.org (subject “Tax Research Conference”) by July 10 2022. If you want to invite policymakers connected to your research project, please provide their details (name, position, and a brief description of their background). We aim to notify the authors of selected papers by early August 2022.
