"Starting a Masters degree in a foreign country was daunting at first. I didn't know anyone at the university and many international students I met were only staying for one semester. I was eager to make Norwegian friends but was unsure how to go about doing so" (Kelsey Barnhill, international student, NMBU).

Student sorority

"I was happy to learn that student life at NMBU had many different societies or 'forenings' you could become involved in. Coming from the United States, sororities and fraternities are familiar to me. I found out about Feminin & Fornem at Graskurs 1 and thought the girls (and dresses!) were nice and that it might be a good fit.

I had only taken 1 semester of Norwegian and was not very confident in my speaking skills. Still, I decided to try out! I applied for the forening using my mix of Norwegian and English and was accepted. I feel so lucky that the students at NMBU were willing to let an international student join their sorority. My Norwegian has improved so much thanks to the girls in Feminin & Fornem. They have become my best friends at the university and I am so happy to have been included!"
