A research group within urban and regional planning to explore and develop methods for monitoring, comprehending, and steering spatial dynamics in society.

Focal areas

The group explores the following themes within urban and regional planning:

  • Theorietical and empirical knowledge of spatial development and processes of territorialization
  • Theory and methods related to the interaction of territory and society, including culture, values and mentalities, political technologies and planning systems, as well as instruments and professional methods (strategic, operational, regulatory, and communicative)
  • Methodological innovation and critical reflection around the relationship between theory and practice in urban and regional planning
  • Learning methods in the intersection between research and practice.

The relation between territorialization and methods necessitates transdisciplinary approaches in practice and to the research. The group is therefore open to a broad participation from various disciplines and actors, both researchers, professionals, and users of planning systems.
