Our main research interest is to identify nutritional measures to reduce methane emissions and nutrient losses in ruminants and to improve the efficiency of dietary nutrient utilization and immunocompetence. We use balance trials, rumen batch and blood cell culture to investigate the relationships among digestive efficiency, rumen methane formation, feed efficiency, and immune response. We are developing proxies to predict rumen methane formation and are now approaching microbial heritability and efficiency.

Forsking & prosjekt
Projects
Overordna mål for prosjektet er å utvikle strategier i surfôrproduksjonen som reduserer enterisk metanutslipp hos drøvtyggere.
ViableCow aims to provide solutions for more sustainable ruminant production in both the short term (nutrition strategy, digitalization, national inventory) and the longer term (breeding strategy, ruminant health).
