NMBU has been accredited by the global standard-setting body for business education. This confirms that our economics degrees are amongst the best in the world.
AACSB International (AACSB) has granted accreditation to the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU).
The credential was awarded following a comprehensive review of the quality of our degree programmes, teaching, research, and strategic goals. We are particularly proud that the evaluation committee described the quality of our degree programmes as ‘outstanding’.
AACSB is the world’s largest and most recognised network for business schools. The accreditation is the result of several years of dedicated work focused on development, evaluation, and improvement of our academic offerings.
This marks a major milestone for NMBU’s School of Economics and Business and is excellent news for students, staff, and partners alike.

“AACSB accreditation recognizes institutions that have demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curriculum development, and student learning,” said Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB.
“We congratulate the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and Dean Casper Claudi Rasmussen on earning accreditation and applaud the entire team, including the administration, faculty, staff, and students, for their roles in achieving this respected honor,” she added.

NMBU Rector, Solve Sæbø emphasized the significance of the accreditation:
“This is an important day for NMBU. Many are still unaware of the high quality of our economics programmes, and AACSB accreditation makes it clear that we deliver education and research at an international level. It strengthens the position of the School of Economics and Business and contributes to elevating the entire university,” says Sæbø.
An international mark of quality
Fewer than six percent of the world’s business schools are AACSB-accredited.
For students, this confirms that education at NMBU is now on par with some of the best business schools in the world.
The accreditation also commits NMBU to maintaining and continuously improving the quality of its economics education.
“We are honoured to join the global network of AACSB-accredited institutions,” says Casper Claudi Rasmussen, Dean of the School of Economic and Business at NMBU.
“This recognition reflects our commitment to high quality in business education, research, and societal impact. AACSB accreditation strengthens our ability to achieve our long-term goals by contributing to sustainable development and innovation. We look forward to exploring the opportunities this accreditation brings and are grateful for the valuable insights that AACSB has provided throughout the process.”

Good news for students
For students, this means that a degree from NMBU’s School of Economics and Business is internationally recognised.
It provides assurance that the degree programmes are relevant, up-to-date, and well-aligned with the needs of the job market. It may also open doors to further studies and career opportunities, both in Norway and abroad.

“It was the combination of economics and sustainability that first attracted me to NMBU. The accreditation reinforces my impression that the university takes quality and social responsibility seriously,” says Kristian Lund Vang, Bachelor’s student in Economics and Business Administration.

Dalia Qadir Zada, Master student in Bioeconomy, is also proud of the accreditation: “As a Master student in Bioeconomy, I see the AACSB accreditation as confirmation that NMBU is committed to quality and future-oriented competence. It is inspiring to be part of an environment that combines economics, sustainability, and innovation at an international level.
Research that makes a difference
The research activities at NMBU’s School of Economics and Business were also thoroughly evaluated.
The committee found that NMBU contributes high-quality and socially relevant research.
One example is the work done at Skatteforsk - Centre for Tax Research. The centre has influenced tax policy changes and collaborated several media outlets internationally.
This demonstrates how research from NMBU can have significant impact, both nationally and internationally.
