Rethinknig Agriculture

Co-creating food systems based on diversity, sufficiency and care.

Date:

Place:

Vitenparken Campus Ås

Welcome to a brave conversation on food systems based on diversity, sufficiency and care!

This event kicks off NMBU and Nibio’s Soil Week, and what better way to start than with what humans are built for — creating connections and maintaining relationships!

During the gathering, you will be introduced to the concept and practice of “samberging” (Commoning-sufficiency), which aims to holistically act in alignment with agroecological principles and meet the needs of communities in local and global food systems.

Samberging is inspired by grassroots movements from the Global Majority where notions of 'buen vivir' and ‘ubuntu’ arose as reactions against capitalist and imperialist ideas of growth and development. In this event, we explore what language and practices we can cultivate within a Norwegian landscape. Samberging involves considering the human being as part of a greater whole, in which other living beings — such as mountains, fjords, trees and soil can be sensed as not just a part of your ecosystem, but as your siblings.

Join us in this practical and philosophical interaction regarding soil and food, and the myriad of relationships and responsibilities implicating ourselves, the community, the environment and the world. The event is facilitated by members of the art and research collective Sneglene, and hosted by Alliansen Ny Landbrukspolitikk to gather input to a webinar series on Norwegian agricultural politics.

Location:
Within the exhibition 'Sense of Soil' located in the basement of Vitenparken, Campus Ås.
